Endodontics - root canal treatment

Endodontic therapy is a treatment of tooth nerve which aims to remove the infection and protect the exposed teeth from a possible future disease caused by microorganisms. This series of processes is called cleaning of the root canal. Root canals and surrounding tissue are pockets in the cavity inside the tooth containing nerve tissue, blood vessels and other cellular entities. Endodontic therapy involves the removal of these structures, the subsequent shaping, cleaning, and decontamination of the hollows with small files and irrigating solutions and the obturation (filling) of the decontaminated canals with an inert filling such as gutta-percha and eugenol-based cement or other modern materials. After endodontic surgery the tooth will be 'dead', but in fact it still nourishes through the lateral canals. In our dental practice, this procedure is completely painless and is performed under local anesthesia-controlled by digital x-rays and apex locator (Morita), thus achieving a perfect obturation.

Endodontic treatment or root canal treatment removes infected, traumatized or dead pulp. With this procedure the patient manages to heal the tooth and preserve it in the jaw and of course to relieve pain.
